That is a good find! I am updating the manual scan, but retaining the original for archival reasons. I hope to get it uploaded in a day or two.

I'm also OCRing Volume I of the manual in the same update pass and generated a change log file for the updated manual file. You're credited in it, by name only, no contact info.

Seriously, it might be cheaper to have a friend with a metal shop bash up the piece for you than pay international shipping, but give me a few days. We did part out some machines, but I don't have a clear memory where/if that exact part was saved. I do still have some deck castings!

I think I have it working correctly now – it appears that in the setup of the ‘dancer arm’ HES board in the manual states to use TP2 on the TIB board as the earth test point, this however does not work out and the adjustment is not possible – however using TP1 instead appears to work just fine. I suspect this is an error in the manual description on page 6-19.

 

On another issue, I wondered if you know of anyone who is perhaps breaking an APR as I need the plate that fits on the back of the meter bridge centre support that covers the cables (see attached). It is missing on my machine and I need one fitting in order to fit a connector to it so I can connect my DK-Audio MSD6000 master stereo monitor unit to that I intend to sit on the top of the meter bridge. This is intended as an addition that will be fed from the monitor section within the bridge.

Sorry, this fell in a crack because the real answer is I DON'T KNOW. I was hoping I'd have time to  play a bit with it, but now I have some Dragons to go through so I don't know when/if I can get to this.

I hope you don’t mind me contacting you, but you appear to be the oracle on the APR machines so thought you may be able to help me with an issue regarding the flutter damping arm (tension control guide arm) setup?

 

The issue I have is I’m wondering if the manual is incorrect (see attached) as I am having difficulties setting this up as the manual states.

 

I have adjusted the HES board position to give me the same voltage when moving the arm from left to right, & adjusted RV1 for a total swing of 10.25V giving -5.125V when fully left & +5.125V when fully right. This seems okay, but the next step in the manual says to goto TP.B & move the arm fully right & adjust voltage to 0V using RV2. This is not possible as the voltage swing is the opposite way round – I can bring the voltage down to approx. 0.4V at the left stop with voltage rising towards the 10V as moved towards the right stop. This is with the RV2 pot at it’s end stop & is the other way around to what the manual states.

 

I have checked all the components on the board & replaced the op-amp but everything seems okay, just the output is the opposite way to what is stated in the manual + I can’t bring the lowest voltage down below 0.4V, but it states must be 0V ±0.25V but pot RV2 is at it’s end stop.

 

Any ideas – manual error or other issue?
