The Canadian Horse/Le Cheval Canadien
Canada's National Horse

Not only does Marie-Lynn write songs about the Canadian Horse (lyrics), a rare and very special breed, she also puts her money where her guitar and word processor are. She has just bought one!

Beau (unusually lean for a Canadian -- it was a hard winter!) May 2003

Beau in action: cantering at a horse show and trotting in the grass ring

Beau, like all Canadians, is really smart. He learned to bow in three sessions.
However, like all Canadians, he is very motivated by food.
He usually won't bow unless there is a carrot involved!

AND, he hasn't learned how to behave yet...sticking his tongue out in public!
He's apparently enjoying the snow, however! (March 2003)

Below is an early picture of Beau, Marie-Lynn's Canadian. We also included photos of his sire, one of his grandsires, and dam.

Marie-Lynn's song about the Canadian Horse is out on her new CD, Pegasus. Please use the navigation links at the top or bottom of this page to view other pages at this site. Links to Canadian Horse sites are below the photos.

(Note to Canadian Horse enthusiasts: "Beau" is his nickname. His registered name is Mainguy Bismark Joé; his registration number is 9333. For newcomers to the breed, what that means is he was bred at Ferme Mainguy; his sire's name is Bismark -- yeah, the horse world is a patriarchy, what can I say?! -- and he was born in 1999, the "J" year. Every year is assigned a consecutive letter of the alphabet, which allows people to know instantly how old the horse is.)

Canadian Horse Sites

The Canadian Horse page at the International Museum of the Horse
This will give a fairly concise overview of the breed.

Cherry Creek Canadians
Cherry Creek Canadians probably has the most extensive and informative
site on the Web: see their Links page for many more sites.
Marie-Lynn enjoyed visiting Cherry Creek on a recent holiday.

Cosyland Farms, Williamsburg, Ontario

Stoneridge Farm, Mountain, Ontario
Two Ontario breeders' Web sites.
Marie-Lynn has had the pleasure of visiting both.
