Marie-Lynn went back to her love of language and retrained as an
editor/proofreader in the early 90s. She also does freelance writing for various
kinds of companies as well as magazines. Below is her profile from the Editors’ Association of Canada.

Statement: BA (English); various editing courses; bilingual
(English-French) by birth. I’m equally left-brained (analytical, organized,
sharp-eyed) and right-brained (artistic, creative, imaginative—in previous
incarnations I sang/played/wrote songs in a well-known band, had four plays
produced, co-wrote a feature film, and hosted two arts-oriented CBC radio shows).
I’ve written on topics ranging from EDI technology to popular music and
copy-edited everything from an economics textbook to a first novel requiring
major work. A successful commission to write a humour piece on government
cutbacks proves (I think!) that I can make just about anything funny.
Clients include Key Porter; Little, Brown; Prentice Hall;
Canadian Business; OPSEU; CUPE; and Bryan Mills & Associates, a
communications company.
